Gateshead Autism Group was formed in December 2010, in response to concerns that provision, and is fragmented for those with Autistic Spectrum Conditions, their parents, carers and families. The group is made up of volunteers from  a wide range of  backgrounds  and experience including, individuals with Autistic Spectrum Conditions, parents, carers, professionals from education, health and social care backgrounds, independent advocates and local councillors.

They all share the same goal to improve the outcomes of those affected by Autistic Spectrum Condition. The group also works in partnership with Gateshead Carers Association, Crossroads Care Gateshead, and Parents in Power, Cedars Trust and Eye of the Fly.
